First-time mum Melanie was rushed from Coffs Harbour to John Hunter Hospital; delivering her baby boy, Banjo at 15-weeks premature. While Banjo received care in the NICU, Melanie remained by his side, staying at our House in Newcastle.
“When I first walked into this big, beautiful, homey room I cried – I was just so overwhelmed and grateful,” Melanie said.
“I’ve made great friendships here with the Volunteers and people going through similar journeys. You could have the worst day ever; when you come back to the House you’ve always got someone to talk to that gets it.”
“Every day when I leave the NICU I say ‘I’m going back home’. I call it home – it feels like home, it really does.”
